This Friday evening at the Zilker Clubhouse, our friends Secret Society Adventures will be orchestrating their second shindig, Hot Jazz Dancehall, a recreation of a 1920′s era Friday evening on the town.
And if that weren’t enough to get you out, Jester King, Adelbert’s, and Live Oak will all be pouring at the event.
From the horse’s mouth:
Your freshly-polished dance shoes crunch on gravel as you approach the rustic stone cabin,
and you snuggle close with your partner as you walk
- your breath pluming in the cold, crisp February air.Warm light streams out of the windowpanes,
woodsmoke curls from the squat chimney
and you can hear muted peals of laughter inside.As you open the door and step over the threshold,
you are greeted by the brassy, happy, rhythmic tones of the East Side Dandies,
and you can’t help but smile at the bouncing, laughing, twirling crowd on the dance floor
as they Lindy-hop, Balboa, Charleston and swing with their friends.You consider craft beer offerings from Jester King and Adelbert’s
before deciding on a cup of pale ale,
and thoughtfully procure a cup of red wine for your companion.The stars glisten overhead and the lights of the Austin skyline sparkle
as you finish your cigarette,
smiling at the other folks taking a breather on the sprawling patio that overlooks the city.
